Spatial Omics of Adrenal Gland: Molecular Mechanisms of Zonation, Sexual Dimorphism, and Stress Response. The proposed research program focuses on the application of cutting-edge spatial transcriptomics technologies (10x Genomics Visium/Visium HD) combined with advanced bioinformatics approaches to investigate the molecular architecture of the adrenal gland. Key research directions include: (1) mapping zone-specific gene expression patterns and identifying novel molecular markers of adrenal cortical zonation, (2) elucidating sex-dependent differences in adrenal structure and function, with particular emphasis on the X-zone/fetal zone biology, (3) characterizing the centripetal differentiation model of adrenocortical cells through pseudotime trajectory analysis, (4) investigating inter- and intra-zone cell communication networks via ligand-receptor interaction analysis, (5) comparative cross-species studies of human and mouse adrenal glands to identify conserved canonical marker genes with translational relevance, and (6) integration of spatial transcriptomics with single-cell approaches and functional studies to understand HPA axis regulation and bioactive peptide signaling in steroidogenesis.
