successfully performed, for the first time in the history of GPSK, a procedure of fetoscopic laser coagulation of vascular connections (anastomosis) within the placenta, in a pregnant woman in the 18th week of a twin pregnancy, monochorionic-diamniotic, complicated by extreme growth restriction of one of the fetuses (sFGR- type IIa). Such a pregnancy complication poses a risk of intrauterine death of both twins or severe impairment of the surviving fetus. A successfully performed procedure gives a chance for the proper development of both fetuses. The patient will remain under the strict care and control of the Clinic team throughout the pregnancy.

The pregnant woman, after several days of observation, was discharged home in good general condition. We keep our fingers crossed for both babies, who, like their mother, tolerated the procedure well.
